With year round sunshine combined with awesome culinary delights, Tampa is a must visit for everyone. Awesome Irish pubs, dancing clubs and breweries make the recipe for an ideal vacation.
My wife and I had a fun vacation watching beautiful sunset at a waterfront café and look forward to visit this wonderful city again. The town also boasts of sandy beaches, pristine golf courses, museums and world class performance halls which make the recipe for an ideal vacation.
1. Checkout Tampa Theater
We reached the city in the evening and were lucky to catch up an awesome musical. It’s a wonderful old theater with its grand time restored beautifully. The amazing décor and the vintage bathrooms give you a retro feel and transport you back in time. The place is a must visit if you are in this area.
2. Head to Big Cat Rescue
We went to this zoo to have a close look at the exotic cats and the place exceeded our expectations. Animals lovers like us were delighted to see the wild cats in their natural environment. These animals have been rescued from different places and are provided a safe haven. The place has good photo ops and is worth visiting. However, it is better to call up and enquire about the tour schedule as it has specific guided tours at specific times.
3. Visit the Lettuce Lake Park
It is a nice place to walk with boardwalks over the wildlife comprising alligators, hawks, turtles, spiders and many other wildlife creatures. Pack a picnic and enjoy some relaxing hours under the shade. You can also rent a kayak and peddle around.
4. Go to the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts
All the four stages in this center are great and so are the acoustics. The performers were very talented and we were in for some wonderful time. My wife just loved the restaurant which serves awesome food.
5. Checkout the Beaches – St. Pete Beach
Where to Stay
Tampa offers loads of good lodging options from luxury waterfront hotels to reasonable bed and breakfasts.
We stayed at the Staybridge suits and had a great time. The rooms were spacious and clean and the staff was very co-operative. There was a fantastic kitchen in our room which gave it an apartment like feel. The other facilities including the gym and pool were great. Some other accommodation options include Holiday Inn Express, Emerald Greens, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn and Suites, Wingate etc.
Where to Eat
We had a good time at Jackson’s Bistro Bar & Sushi which provides an amazing waterfront view. The service was quick and my wife just loved the sushi. If you want to dig into some Italian delights then you should head to La Terrazza which serves amazing soups and salads. The fish was fresh and the pasta truly Italian.
Tips for Tourists
It is best to visit Tampa in the fall, late winter and early spring when the weather is good. However, if you don’t mind the heat, then there are some great offers all over Tampa, which will make your trip budget friendly.
